Preparation Requirements
Identify the Educational Document
Determine whether the document is a school transcript, college transcript, university transcript, diploma, or other educational credential.
Florida Public Schools and Universities
Request a transcript signed by the School Registrar or an authorized issuing official.
The transcript must be properly notarized and include a complete notarial statement.
Florida Private Schools and Universities
Obtain a printed transcript.
The transcript must include a statement attesting that it is a copy and must be signed by the student or custodian before a Florida notary public.
A complete notarial statement is required.
Diplomas and Degree Certificates
Contact the issuing school or university to determine how the diploma can be certified or notarized.
The Florida Department of State publishes specific instructions for school transcripts but does not provide a separate detailed procedure for every type of diploma.
Verify Destination Requirements
Confirm whether the receiving country requires an original diploma, certified transcript, notarized copy, or additional verification.
Submit for Apostille
Submit the eligible original properly notarized document to the Florida Department of State.
Important Restrictions
Florida notaries cannot independently attest to photocopies of student records maintained in public education offices. Follow the state's specific school transcript procedures.
